Meet Our Teachers
Miriam is the principal teacher at Showkids. She was born in Glasgow where she started singing and dancing from a young age. Miriam began furthering her training at The Dance School of Scotland from the age of 16 then at 18 she headed down to London to do a Musical Theatre Degree at Arts Educational Schools London.
Upon graduating Miriam gained a part in the critically acclaimed production of Hair at The Gate Theatre. She then went on to play the roles of Ali in Mamma Mia! (West End); alternate Tzeitel and understudy to Chava and Hodel in Fiddler on The Roof (West End); Hunyak and Roxie in Chicago (UK tour); Bettina in the new musical Dolly; Colin in Mother Goose (Nottingham Playhouse); An Evening of Shakespeare Monologues (with the theatre company Action to the Word); The Magical Mermaid in Robinson Crusoe & the Caribbean Pirates (SECC); We Will Rock You (West End) where she understudied and played the lead role of Scaramouche; Tiger Lily in Peter Pan and Princess Jasmine in Aladdin at the Edinburgh King's Theatre.
Miriam's television credits include: Kirsty in Stacey Stone (BBC Scotland), Lois in UP (BBC pilot), Dream Girl in Dream Bingo commercial, Morag in BBC sitcom Quick Cuts.
Miriam is a regular guest singer with the RSNO Big Band and Cafe Band and at Shoreditch House in London. She performs solo and with her trio The Nighting Gals at various events all over the UK.
Miriam also runs a private singing teaching practice. She is very passionate about teaching and passing on her knowledge and expertise.
Megan has just completed her training as a Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern dancer and DDI qualified dance teacher at Dance for All in Edinburgh. On top of her training, for the last year Megan has also been teaching at Dance Factory Dance School. Musical theatre is Megan’s passion and she is really looking forward to getting to work more in that genre at Showkids.
